Meeting Minutes

July 13, 2015

The Harrison Township Zoning Appeals Board July meeting was called to order by chair Leah Black at 7:00 pm. Present were: Leah Black, Margaret “Peggy” Egbert, Frank Miles, Joe DeFelice and Debi Hulse. Absent were: Kenny Cookson and Larry Smith. Also present was Larry Diehl.

Debi read the minutes from the April 13, April 20, April 27 and May 4 meetings. For each meeting Peggy moved to accept the minutes and Frank 2nd the motion. The minutes were (each) approved as read.

OLD BUSINESS

Lars Olsen has hired an attorney to assist with the legalities and regulations of filing a permit in the process of building his garage. The Olsen’s want to tear down the existing garage and build another garage which is within the present Zoning Codes. There was a mistake on their Zoning Application. They are preparing another application with the attorney’s assistance.

NEW BUSINESS

Larry Diehl asked a question about dividing his property and selling part for a building lot. The lot was originally zoned as a building lot, but zoning code has changed. The lot is only 150’ wide (road frontage). It was originally 5 acres. To be used as a building lot; it would have to be sold as the original 5 acre lot.

Joe DeFelice presented a potential application for review. The plans are for a Quarry at US 23 and Weigand Road. The hole would always have water in it. A barge would suck sand and gravel in. They have prepared traffic and road changes. They estimate the area has 15 years of gravel. They have a prepared plan for land after the 15 years of use. Shelley Material had th4e plan prepared.

Peggy moved that the meeting by adjourned, 2nd by Frank. Meeting was adjourned at 7:32pm.
